Aashna Jena commented on CAMEL-14581: ------------------------------------- [~zregvart] I think having sub-menus (or just links in the header) under "About" and "Community" makes sense, since the sub-menu topics are fairly disjoint. But for Documentation and Projects, we should do away with the submenu and have separate webpages because : 1) They already have too many sub-menus 2) The sub-menu list will keep expanding with time - as new projects and documentations keep are added to Camel. I think this is a strong reason to maintain a page with links to sub-topics rather than having drop-down menus, especially taking the future scope for expansion into account. > Website usability improvements > ------------------------------ > > Key: CAMEL-14581 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-14581 > Project: Camel > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: website > Reporter: Zoran Regvart > Priority: Major > Labels: help-wanted > Attachments: appache&opensource.jpg, camel-projects-2.png, > camel-projects.png, camel_mobile_menu.jpeg, docs_menu.png, docs_menu.png > > Time Spent: 10m > Remaining Estimate: 0h > > The current Apache Camel website can use some help with the usability. I've > identified the following areas that could improve: > * simpler top level navigation: currently we have Blog, Projects, > Documentation, Community, Download, About; some of these also have sub-menu > items. I think we could benefit from a simpler organization and perhaps get > rid of sub-menus and serve pages with content regarding each section (e.g. > documentation page could have pointers to different kinds of documentation we > currently have on the sub-menu) > * accessibility (readability/contrast/...): we should run audits and make > sure that the website is accessible > * rework menus on low resolution: make sure that the menus are large enough > and readable on lower resolution -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.4#803005)
