Hi @Subrhamanya, > As you know there are many people in the open source community who are still dependent on older OSGI. Even though R7 is the future way for us, but it will be the biggest change in the OSGI world I would say. To be honest, most of the currently active Commons maintainers are **not** OSGi users, so we don’t have good visibility into the current state of the OSGi ecosystem. That’s exactly why I suggested moving this discussion to the `[email protected]` mailing list, to involve a wider group of maintainers and users before making a decision. Could you help by giving a short overview of today’s OSGi landscape in that thread? For example: * How widely is **R6 still used** in real deployments? * Are there constraints like **limited Java module availability** (e.g. only selected `java.*` modules at runtime)? * Any **usage statistics or examples** from open-source projects or vendors would be very helpful. If we do accept this change, we will want to **document clearly why** we chose that OSGi baseline so future maintainers understand the context. A reference to the mailing list discussion will also help avoid having to revisit the same question unnecessarily in a few years. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
