   Our `pom.xml` specifies `<commons.encoding>UTF-8</commons.encoding>`, and I 
can only hope your IDE picks that up, it looks like it from your screenshot, 
but it might not pick it up to run the test. Eclipse works:

   Eclipse shows the file as UTF-8:

   The GitHub builds pass, so it must be a problem with your IDE or how you
