Hey Gary,
I believe that you can run Hadoop on Windows with Cygwin. Programmatic access
to the file system is typically done using Hadoop client software. It does all
of the communication with the NameNode and DataNodes to access the blocks on
the nodes that make up the file you are interacting with. I did look at the
other test cases, but I didn't see a reason to extend
AbstractProviderTestConfig. If it is required, then I will do it.
