I like the idea of making the interface type safe. How would one do that when
there is inheritance? Can you fix the patch for that?
The reason I picked reduce is that it is clear that it is meant to work with
the map/reduce framework. Also, if a new interface is used to signal this, its
an opportunity to rethink the name.
