Well, see it this way: FileUpload 1.3.1 is EOL as Java 1.4. Since *you* get the 
money from your customer for maintaining such an old version, *you* can also 
backport the change and provide a patched 1.3.x version. Anything is in 
subversion. Even Oracle ships newer Java 1.4 versions, if you're willing to pay 
them maintenance fees.
