Another option we've tried in the past is creating a special version of
commons-compress.jar with lots of {{System.err.println}}s sprinkled in.
[~anveshmora] would use that and provide us with the log output.
Is this - replacing the jar with one that is not distributed via official
channels - something you could try? If so I can create one the coming days
(after christmas).
