We can use categories and tags to organize the blog "news" could be one
category or tag.
I'm on the impression that the intent is to have blog posts hosted on the site,
or point to interesting/related blog post hosted externally.
The concept will be similar to [PhoneGap Blog][]
About the "jekyll/update" in the URL that's handle by [jekyll][] and the [YAML
Front-matter][] its using the categories variable

About mechanics involved in "posting an entry" (eg, "rebuild the web site").
That's jekyll's system the principle is that hosting static files is better,
jekyll is being use by GitHub Pages.

About a weekly email digest that will depend in a few things:
1. How much content we post on the blog (eg, you don't want an empty week with
no content)
2. How to decide which posts make it to weekly news or just go with all
