Aleksandar Vidakovic commented on FINERACT-1592:
------------------------------------------------

[~ikimbrah] Just need to get this release out of the door (around May 10) and a
couple of days after that we should have something either in my fork or
probably in one of the Mifos repos. I'll post a message on the mailing list
with detailed instructions. I'll be probably missing most of the report
templates and will just convert one that is very simple to prove that the
mechanics are working... at this stage helping hands would be very much
appreciated to make it a viable alternative to Pentaho. What I can say already
is that the report template editor is a lot nicer and both the editor and the
report engine are very well maintained. The license is also very liberal (EPL)
compared to Pentaho (GPL)... which might give you more options depending on
your use case.

And then finally: if that experiment goes well then I have yet another
reporting engine integration in the pipeline. With the current workload I'd say
first samples should appear around June(-ish). And with that we'd have 3
options for reporting. Again, that engine is also well maintained, has proper
template editor, just the license is a bit less liberal. But people then have a
- real - choice. And the goal is to have these integrations 100% backwards
compatible (excluding the report template formats of course... those are
obviously proprietary to the reporting engine).

My intention is also to make these JARs available via Maven Central (or at
least via Github Packages) so that everyone who wants to include them in their
Fineract/Mifos deployments just needs to point their deployment scripts to
these public repos instead of needing them to compile etc.

If you guys have anything else that you don't see here... just add comments and
I'll see if I can squeeze it in.
