Won't that actually be a plus point? I mean, if someone is modifying a file,
they expect it to be modified. It's not possible in the distributed setting,
but at least in the collection environment, it might make a lot of things easy.
[If we use a no-op type cache, returning direct file paths]
Of course I'm not suggesting this is something desirable.
