* potentially controversial changes or issues

Moreover there were some discussions of encouraging Flink users to host and
maintain connectors outside the main project and provide a visibility for those
through https://flink-packages.org/ (I'd say they were inconclusive).
Personally I am in favor of that approach.
So to answer your question I'd say we can not separate the flink-connectors
component in JIRA, as it lists only the connectors community agreed to support.
