Timo Walther commented on FLINK-17752:
--------------------------------------
I'm also fine with postponing the custom option. We should not move too much
logic that can be done in SQL to properties. Supporting SQL, ISO-8601, RFC-3339
should cover 80% of the use cases. For the remaining ones, people can just
declare the column as `STRING` and use a computed column with a custom parsing
logic wither expressed in SQL or as a user-defined scalar function.

> Currently, we are using RFC3339_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT (which will add timezone at
> the end of string) to as the timestamp format in JSON. However, the string
> representation fo {{TIMESTAMP (WITHOUT TIME ZONE)}} shoudn't adding 'Z' at
> the end.
