Thanks [~libenchao], at first I thought that this ticket might have been
considered a bug.
I couldn't find guidance in the
[contributing|https://flink.apache.org/how-to-contribute/contribute-code/]
[guidelines|https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/FLINK/Apache+Flink+Home]
on what changes are eligible for backporting to patch releases. In the past, I
know some features (ie HybridSource) ended up getting backported to a previous
release
