[~vivacell] we are currently pursuing an alternative implementation based on
the DataGeneratorSource, as proposed by Chesnay
[here|https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/21028#pullrequestreview-1138915753].
I am going to reassign the ticket to myself and make sure to attribute
co-authorship to you if we end up reusing some parts of the original PR.
