    If you are testing for an expected Excepteion here, you should add a `fail`
after the link you expect to throw the Exception:

    ```java
    try {
       dis.readBytes() // expected to throw
       Assert.fail("Did not throw expected Exception");
    } catch (IOException ignored) {
    }
    ```

> DataInputDeserializer#available returns one too few

>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-5561
>             Project: Flink
>          Issue Type: Bug
>    Affects Versions: 1.2.0
>            Reporter: Nico Kruber
>            Assignee: Nico Kruber
>
> DataInputDeserializer#available seems to assume that the position points to
> the last read byte but instead it points to the next byte. Therefore, it
> returns a value which is 1 smaller than the correct one.
