@StephanEwen What exactly do you mean by switching to a different temp dir?
Isn't the IOManager always using all configured directories for parallel IO
(on potentially several harddisks).
Logging the state of the temp dirs (size, available space, utilization) is
definitely good and will help to debug jobs that fail because of lack of space.
