I would very much appreciate a general option (i.e. throughout the whole of the OOo suite) labelled "Always paste unformatted", which would default the "Paste" command to unformatted and relegate the "Paste with whatever baggage available" to the "Paste Special" command instead. Oh, and "paste without any other rubbish" is never the default option in the "special menu" or Writer as choices are not retained. Alternatively, one setting which has options for each module (Write "on", Calc "off" etc) or make it part of module specific configs. The main need for that is in Writer, but that is probably my personal use and bias speaking. I have done a quick, unscientific poll amongst the people I work with, and "Paste with format" is agreed to represent the single most destructive feature to document production ever invented. Especially in MS products you end up building a tower of problems which gets you closer and closer to full failure the larger the document is as it drags all sorts of rubbish in that eventually confuses the processor to the point of crashing. (I am the champ in cleaning this up for colleagues - my secret is dragging it into OpenOffice and then saving it again which tidies it up. The low crash sensitivity is one of the many reasons I prefer using OOo). In spreadsheets "Paste without" gets a bit more complex, and here the "paste special" feature helpfully remembers the last used settings. To avoid rant mode, in summary I'd like to support this request, but maybe through the implementation as proposed above. It would more or less annihilate the competition in terms of increased productivity. Apologies for the length, I'll get off my soapbox now, but only after thanking you for your work.
