Shivram Mani commented on HAWQ-171:
-----------------------------------
HDP 2.3 which uses hadoop 2.7.0 is certified with JDK1.8
http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.1.0/bk_ambari_reference_guide/content/ch_changing_the_jdk_version_on_an_existing_cluster.html
Ambari 2.1.0 also has been certified with JDK 1.8 and has deprecated 1.7
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-9784
Also Hadoop 3.0 onwards has set 1.8 as the minimum version.
As of now, we haven't quite set a release milestone for this PXF update as it
is tied with the other products we package in PHD/HDB
