note that there are two arguments here, one is for real glitch with major 
compactions removing the markers as described; and one for adding a delete with 
a semantic that will be internal sequence-based and ignore put timestamps 
completely (previous-in-sequence puts removed, next-in-sequence puts visible 
despite timestamps. By extension this delete semantic will obviously not have 
the major-compaction-related glitch, but this is a side-effect, not the main 
argument for such semantics.
Let's not conflate them...
