[~stack], do you want me to backport the large (and complete) patch from
HBASE-8369 into 0.96, or rather forward port the more minimal patch I have here
for 0.94? The HBASE-8369 patch is pretty invasive. For 0.94 I definitely prefer
the smaller patch. 0.96, I can see going either way. I'll make sure the M/R
APIs are the same either way.
[~ndimiduk], even 0.98/trunk do not have a mapred version. We can file a
separate issue to add mapred support to all branches (or not, depending on
discussion) for HIve support.
