To be clear, are you thinking of renovating the launch scripts (i.e., pile o'
bash), or also digging into hbase shell (jruby interface for interaction with
the online cluster)? By your description it sounds like only the former. If
both, best to have separate tickets. Reason I ask: our "shell" component means
the latter, not the former.
