It is not immediately clear to me what racing condition this and HBASE-7847 
solves. But since we use multi for most of the operations it will not hurt to 
use it for delete recursive as well. 
I'll say we should backport both patches to 0.98 and 1.0 if we can identify a 
concurrency issue that it addresses. Lacking that, I would be +0.
