Vladimir Rodionov commented on HBASE-14123:

That is right

With close to 300 of review board comments during past 5 months, with numerous
small and large refactoring of code due to these "requests", with multiple
changes in command line tools format, the feature itself has not become more
mature and robust but less functional. We have stripped down some functions
due to moving everything to a client side, such as automatic Master/RS
configuration, rich client API, extended security, robust execution pipeline,
as a result of these code reviews. We have prepared last summer very good user
guide, which included configuration section:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12829269/Backup-and-Restore-Apache_19Sep2016.pdf

Now it is absolutely outdated and obsolete after numerous rounds of reviews.
What other upcoming 2.0 feature has had such a good release doc long before the
release?

We can't keep up on a doc side with a constant flow of a code changes.

I am wondering how many more review rounds will be required to get this feature
finally committed? Can we set a limit on a maximum review rounds? Can we get
final a list of comments/requests? That is pretty simple questions/requests
from our side of a fence.

Otherwise this is becoming more and more like a never ending story.
