The Spark community is moving away from Scala 2.10:

Spark 2.1.1 has been released for some time. It should be stable enough to
replace 2.0.x release.
Initial investigation shows that hbase-spark module (with patch for this JIRA)
compiles cleanly against Spark 2.2.0
Can we simply the combination of Scala X Spark artifacts ?
