we don't support running on any Hadoop 3 yet, but a few of us have been trying
to incrementally get things working as we go. I didn't even check what version
hadoop 3-b1 uses, let me see if going to the 1.0.1 version breaks anything on
hadoop 3-a4. we can always just bump the hadoop 3 version if needed.
