I’m sure an option for passing a static string of regionserver as a bootstrap
set could be made to work, but per above answer a different master oriented
model was preferred to minimize operational and configuration changes
(especially if there is co-location of ZK and master service). Nothing
precludes contribution of another type of registry that is backed by an HBase
RPC endpoint hosted by the regionserver or another daemon role. If we had such
a contribution I’d probably ask how difficult it would be to unify them so it
becomes the operators choice what hosts from either role to include in the
bootstrap string.
