I'm currently trying to write a reasonable test that would require the TOM
today (the todo in the patch); but currently everything works. Some feedback or
hints from @jxiangs would be perfect, yes. Also, I wouldn't be against the
aggressive strategy to just commit this as it is then fix the corner cases
during the beta (there is also the region server part to do, but it's not huge,
I will have it by friday if we'ok on this approach).
