think that might have been the reason why RawStore wasn't used. That
functionality won't make sense for hbase metastore.
Would it make sense to implement these in RawStore and mark them as optional
methods so that HBaseStore can just make them NOPs?

I also see that the author(s) didn't want to introduce new thrift (public) api
for some the functions needed, but that doesn't actually mean that RawStore
can't be used.
