[~belugabehr] this breakdown is super useful thanks for doing this!
We definitely need to tighten things up as long as we document it -- had a
similar discussion around this for type conversions (including DATEs and
Timestamps) as part of HIVE-24778 -- also cc'ing [~zabetak] who could be
interested into this :)
