I didn't read thoroughly the Hive doc but if we plan to make changes and
revisit the existing behavior I think it makes sense to try to stay aligned
with the SQL standard and JDBC specification. What I mean is that if we decide
to break backwards compatibility let's try to stay as close to SQL standard as
possible.
