TODO defers appVersion 1.8.0 until release images are published. Empty-tag
expectations, label assertions and snapshots are aligned with latest; explicit

tags, labels and overrides pass.

Addressed within the confirmed release boundary: source-build directory
comments now use 1.8.0, and the Server/Docker READMEs and PD/Store README
badges have post-release TODOs. The owner explicitly requested that badges and
published image/download examples remain unchanged until publication, so badges
intentionally stay at 1.7.0. The operations guide now marks its future 1.8.0
package examples as unavailable until release. Existing 1.7.0
source/backup/rollback paths and the development guide’s explicitly historical
directory notes are retained; changing them would alter their historical
meaning.
