Toolchain 1.8.0 still used the 1.7.0 SDK and required a source-only candidate manifest for distribution packaging. Normal builds now use the 1.8.0 SDK and validate the packaged SDK libraries against the Maven repository. The release profile supports staging dependencies, while the existing candidate CI and Docker builds explicitly retain their locked SDK and manifest checks. The source archive now includes the scripts needed to build it. Release validation rejects missing or mixed SDK libraries, changed bytes and linked library directories. Validation: built the actual Git source archive and aggregate distribution on Java 17; checked the packaged SDK against the same-source build repository; ran SDK regression tests, including the real Maven parent-metadata check, and independent review. Actual Apache staging resolution is still pending deployment/signing configuration. No artifacts have been released or promoted. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
