@szlta @smaheshwar-pltr Thanks for your input, I understand this better now.
Looks like the client is ok; the main problem are the custom server
implementations that store the metadata in a json file together with the data.

Encryption properties is a part of problem. It is the biggest part (can be
exploited for data leaks), but another part are all other fields in the
metadata - since they can be manipulated for replay attacks and other stuff
that breaks the table integrity.
One thing we can do is to document this in the REST spec, so the
implementors are aware of the threats; I'll send a patch.
