Definitely see the benefit of supporting multiple Flink versions via a shim layer. I am just concerned about the added complexity and maintenance overhead. Wondering how the spark2/3 modules handle the minor version upgrade in Spark. Another question is if we want to keep supporting all the Flink minor versions. Flink has the policy of two released minor versions.
