Closing as superseded by #2165, now merged. Its `RenameTableNotSupported` test (26c1205) creates the source table and asserts it still exists after the call, which addresses the blocker raised here, and the Hadoop `ErrNotImplemented` wrap is already on `main`. The one remaining change, asserting the sentinel in the Hadoop integration test instead of matching the message, is carried into #2173.
