Mark Miller commented on SOLR-13452:
------------------------------------

Don't worry, I'm pretty knew to it myself (I didn't touch Gradle till a year
ago), but I found it way easier and more intuitive than ant+ivy (don't even
need to bring in the maven shadow build on this one).

Once you stop trying to program in XML, you get all kinds of warm fuzzies - and
not the fuzzies you get when everything is *still* XML but now you have a
strong plugin culture. Instead of spending most of your time thinking, "hmm,
I'd like a simple X, do I write a whole new plugin or abuse my mind with XML
programming - how about neither", you just spend 2 seconds and have X.

> Update the lucene-solr build from Ivy+Ant+Maven (shadow build) to Gradle.

> I took some things from the great work that Dat did in

> little further.

> When working with gradle in sub modules directly, I recommend

> This gradle branch uses the following plugin for version locking, version
