David Smiley commented on SOLR-14636:
-------------------------------------

I'm concerned of scope-creep in this reference_impl to tackle more
dragons/mountains (e.g. a Curator migration, Overseer migration). I know you
are super-human and can do it all (bravo! seriously) but lets celebrate a
tremendous milestone and have it _somehow_ get in the hands of Solr users
everywhere; ehh? The more scope creep on this branch, the harder it will be to
bring into master. I suspect you have your sights on these lofty goals and
perfection -- the next highest peek, the next milestone of greatness, and don't
like the thought of stopping to tend to onerous open-source community
stewardship matters of peer-review/merging/releasing but it's healthy for the
project and reduces the risk I see in your effort. Okay? So what's next? I
have ideas I've somewhat already expressed but I'd like to hear from you in
clear language how you imagine users will get ahold of this in say 9.0. If you
refuse to tend to such practical matters, I suppose me and other committers can
discuss how to make your branch "real" and make it happen.
