I took a very valuable $$ reputation and position and burned it in front of a
truck ton of people to spread that message in various ways to various people
because it's not my ego that's at play here and that's what it took for some
people to understand how serious and honest I was being. I could have coasted
on that situation with such little effort or work in this env forever and just
kept collecting. I almost got stuck doing that and oh man how it was killing my
soul. I have the luxury of not having kids or necessary expenses or difficult
minority or stability issues, it's no great sacrifice really and it would
obviously be extremely selfish to my family in another position. So I'm not
claiming I'm some kind of saint, what I'm saying is that this is how important
it is to me to get back to crafting quality, regardless of the cost. I don't
care who likes me, I don't care who pays me what, I care that I'm not sitting
here doing the equivalent of the sad more experienced devs I ran into when I
started this crap, spending 4 hours a day at work playing solitaire and having
0 to be proud of or deep interest in.
