I’ve taken a look at cuvs-lucene before — from what I can see, it follows a similar model to what we’ve been doing with the jVector codec, though please let me know if there are aspects I may have overlooked. The external-store approach you and others suggested seems like the most practical fit for Lucene’s current architecture, and it aligns with what I’ve already been prototyping. I mainly wanted to surface these considerations so the community is aware of the challenges and design trade-offs we’ve been running into as we evaluate future directions for vector/graph indexing.
