I should say I agree with Robert somewhat in spirit. I'd be happy to see this
removed from Maven core entirely (because I'd be happy to see automatic path
appending set on fire and pushed off a cliff) but I don't know that what's good
for me is good for everyone else. I'd not be opposed to the removal.
