The ".m2" directory is located in the user's home directory:
* Windows: C:\Users\<Username>\.m2
* macOS/Linux: /Users/<Username>/.m2 or /home/<Username>/.m2

Maven 4.0 is about to be released ! It's time to discard ".m2" and use a new
name, such as "maven".
The current mainstream version is maven3, and the use of "m2" is somewhat
ambiguous. If the full name can be used in maven4 version, it will not only
clearly express the meaning of the directory, but also have a better comparison
with competitors (such as "gradle").
