Thanks. Just to make you feel better about the existence of the use case, I
want to call out
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/pom/trunk/asf/pom.xml. This is used as a
parent throughout the ASF.
At my day job, we have used this structure extensively. We publish a corporate
parent POM. It can live far away in http-space from the sites of the projects
that use it.
