[~joewitt] Before I just close this as invalid, would anything about your
thoughts on this change if it filtered out the core, framework owned
properties? I can't find any work on variable registry enhancements that is
active so this seems like a reasonable stopgap for the intended use case until
that picks up. I'm happy with either closing it out and pushing the discussion
on var reg enhancements or updating the PR to filter the props.
