Joe Witt commented on NIFI-12973:
---------------------------------

[~pvillard] [~tpalfy] This user experience change needs to be significantly
reconsidered.

I was mentioning on the PR that the problem with the build was unrelated so I
resolved that.

But adding a field for users to enter a comma separated list of UUIDs which are
process groups is far below any UI things we generally do and want to put on
the users. We can and should do better before introducing this. The user
would have to go to an entirely different location to get UUIDs. We also have
to consider whether the user is even authorized to reference them.

It also seems problematic in light of the considerable work being done towards
the new UI and there is no mention of this.

Please revert this change and let's re-engage.

In fairness, I apologize for not having reviewed/commented sooner. I and
others should have. I will say I expected this would be reviewed/commented on
in terms of its UX.

> I think it'd be useful to have an optional property in all Flow Analysis
> rules to scope a rule execution to a specific process group (and its embedded
> process groups).
> Most NiFi users are using NiFi in a multi tenant way and are dedicating a
> process group to a given team. Different rules may apply across different
> teams hence the advantage of scoping a rule to a process group (when it makes
> sense for the rule).
