I solved the problem today (Sunday). I had already uninstalled Apache
OpenOffice 4.0 from the system. Today, I went in and found every folder that
related to AOO and deleted them. Onece I had done that and checked the
registry (using CCleaner), I reinstalled Apache OpenOffice and everything was
fine again. Obviously, some file related to configuration was corrupted, but I
can't be sure which file. Perhaps it could have been "common.xcu" in the
application data folder for the user, but I did not test that. The surest way
to fix things is what I actually did. However, removing all the folders would
mean losing any special templates and custom settings, so it would not be good
for everyone.
