(a2) is related To WIN System Settings -> Viewing -> Medium Size (125%). With 100% and 150% my result is very similar to Edwin's (see second screenshot comparison page), with 125% the result is worse (see second screenshot comparison page. For (a1) I submit a separate Bug. @Edwin: Can you confirm my results?
