Numbering is at least a format attribute of a paragraph. If you want separated numberings so you have to use separated formats. In this way you can have: 1. first numbering 2. first numbering 3. first numbering 1. second numbering 2. second numbering 4. first numbering 5. first numbering 3. second numbering If you change anything in the format of "first numbering" it will be applied to all first numberings. If you change the start number anywhere for first numbering than it will applied to the _start_ of first numbering. This is quite simple. So this isn't an issue.
