To make it clear: Excel treats also strings (text) as a number (or date) if it
looks like a number (or a date).

Calc doesn't. For me: Calc have the right behaviour: Text is text, a character
is a characters although it looks like a digit. Text will be treated with value
0 if the cell is a piece of a numeric formula.

@rainer: You were right. Same as for issue 124812#c4.
