--- Comment #48 from orcmid <[email protected]> --- I received an off-list report that LibreOffice documents created with 4.3 will roundtrip on Macintosh and fail to be opened with Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 (or whatever the latest Macintosh release is). Those files use SHA256 (instead of SHA1) and use AES instead of Blowfish. As we already know, the files can be opened just fine on other installations of AOO 4.1.1 (such as on Windows). I think that is confirmation that there is a problem in the dependencies of Apache OpenOffice in the case of distributions on recent OS X platforms. There is a fairly lengthy tool chain in which there could be a defect, starting with how the Unicode UTF8 of the password is obtained on each platform. Beside looking into the chain of transformations that go into decryption, it may be important to check all of the ways the failure message can be reached. If there are exceptions that lead to that message, that could also be a clue.
