--- Comment #2 from tanstaafl <[email protected]> ---
All of our 60+ users are lamenting the loss of the old pop-up dialog for
individual fields. All but two have steadfastly refused to let me update them
to newer versions at this point in time because of this one change, until
recently.

A few more allowed me to update them (reluctantly) once the Paste bug was fixed
(thanks Olivier or whoever fixed it!), but again, the vast majority strongly
prefer the pop-up dialog editing method to in-line.

As for the CTRL-SHIFT+F9 'workaround'...

This really isn't a viable option either, for us at least... I know this
because we tried it...

The reason is we use a lot of forms with many Input Fields on them (most around
20, but some have more than 40), and to have to cycle through all of them to
find the one they want - well, it is very easy to miss, and then you have to
start over again - very frustrating. Incidentally, I do think adding a 'Back'
button to the main pop-up dialog that cycles through all of the fields as
Olivier suggested is a very good idea, but that would be a separate enhancement
request.

Note: I personally much prefer the pop-up dialog, but I also understand the
reason for adding in-place editing and am not against it.

So... since the code to handle Input Fields in the old pop-up dialog is
obviously still there, shouldn't it be relatively trivial to just add a new
'feature' to allow a dbl-click on the field to open the pop-up dialog, and the
single click to put you in in-line editing mode?

Please, please, please consider this as a way to satisfy the many users that I
know that prefer the old way. I really can't see a downside to this, only an
upside.
